What happens when four strong-willed women converge on New York City for a whirlwind 5-day adventure? We'll find out... stay tuned for updates as my mom, grandma and aunt FINALLY come visit me in the Big Apple. See below for their welcome letter. Yes, I send out welcome letters and itineraries... sometimes work carries over into my personal life. Sue me =)
Darla, Elizabeth and Mary Ellen,
Attached please find attached your customized, one-of-a-kind New York City itinerary which will give you an idea of what to expect on your 4-night, 5-day urban adventure. Please note this itinerary is subject to change. You'll see there are a plethora of activities to satisfy every whim and desire, from Broadway musicals to mystery tours to culinary delights.
A few things you should keep in mind before departure:
You will be responsible for transportation to and from your local airport. Check your flight itinerary carefully and be sure to arrive on time. (MOM!)
Weather is expected to be between 68 and 84 degrees with a small chance of rain. I have umbrellas for all if necessary.
The dress code for the duration of the trip will be Manhattan casual - that means jeans or khakis, nice shorts, nice tops.
Theatre attire is not nearly as dressy as it used to be. Jeans and a smart top, slacks or a skirt are sufficient. Please don't bring anything with sequins - we won't be doing anything that fancy.
Church attire (at least for my church) is super casual. Jeans, tops, flip-flops - anything goes.
To say we'll be walking a lot is a bit of an understatement. Comfortable shoes or sandals are a must or your feet may need to be amputated.
When packing, I suggest you pack your bag, then take half of your crap out and leave it at home.
Don’t forget to bring a lightweight bag or backpack (no 46-lb. purses), a hat or sunglasses, Advil, a light sweater for cool evenings and cold hard cash. Fanny packs are STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
We will take public transportation when possible so plan to purchase an unlimited week-long metro card. I believe they're about $25.
Bring a camera. There will be many once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities and you won't want to miss them.
I will be your representative for this trip and am very much looking forward to your arrival. Should you have any questions prior to your departure feel free to call me at 212-555-555 at work or on my cell phone at 904-555-5555.
Cheers to a successful and productive trip!
