Romantic Date Help

ATTENTION NEW YORKERS: As a self-described NYC guru, I've been tasked with coming up with a romantic yet not-cliche Friday night date on behalf of a busy, overworked friend of mine. I'd be happy to help him, but as I'm sure you are aware, I haven't been on any romantic yet not-cliche Friday night dates in NYC.

a. Have you been on any such dates in the city? Where did you go and what was so great about it?

b. If you haven't been on any such dates, what would the ideal be?

This is time sensitive so please respond ASAP! Gracias!

a. I greatly enjoyed "Dip" the fondue place on 3rd Ave as a cute romantic date. The atmosphere is great, there are plenty of delicious drinks to choose from, there are intimate little booths you can cozy up in and the place is 21 and up a lot of night (i.e. no toddlers screaming and ruining the moment) AND it's great fun playing with your food together.

After I'd suggest heading over to Tasti-D (which is on the same block) and grabbing a cone and taking a walk around the area.

It's not super creative but it works and is quite and intimate at the same time, especially with the weather being the way it is.

Two places on the same street in the village. Remember the one with the private kitchen in back, but it had the cute little outside area? Then the other one that has the bands or poetry readings at night downstairs. Or how about your very own private candle lit area under your porch?
Maybe the night dinner cruise around the statue of liberty.

Romantic date? Gosh! The only dates I've been on have resulted in someone's arrest or me having to watch his kid...or someone losing an eye. (It's true what they say; It's all fun and games until someone loses one of those.)
